APPROVAL OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA, STEMSMART PROCLAMATION
Description
In 2010, The Sarasota County School District and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation initiated a five-year STEMsmart Collaboration to transform teaching and learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), to encourage more students to study STEM subjects and to prepare students for postsecondary study and careers in STEM professions. Although the term of the partnership is drawing to a close, the district is fully committed to sustaining and enhancing its STEM programs.
To affirm the district's commitment to continuing the work funded by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, the STEMsmart Proclamation presented for approval will be read at a STEMsmart Collaboration Celebration on March 17, 2015.
Recommendation
That the School Board of Sarasota County approve the STEMsmart Proclamation to be read at the March 17, 2015, STEMsmart Collaboration Celebration.
